The Institute has an excursions service that organizes guided tours for students throughout the year.

An art history teacher from Institut de Touraine acts as a guide for students in their discovery of the French artistic and cultural heritage.

Tours are scheduled each term on Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays, outside class hours.

Here is a typical programme of organized outings during a term at Institut de Touraine:

Guided tours of the town of Tours

Each first day of term, the Institute's teachers take their students on a tour of Tours.  Other outings are organized during the month for a more in-depth exploration of the town's treasures.

Chenonceaux

Marvellous Renaissance château built on a bridge over a river. One of the most enchanting sites of the region.

Amboise

Residence of the Renaissance kings, the town boasts a superb château and the residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Son et lumière shows in summer.

Chambord

A “folly” attributable to François 1st, king of France. A sumptuous abode in the heart of a magnificent forest.

Mont Saint Michel

A rocky islet crowned with a Gothic abbey, in the middle of a bay lapped by the tides. This unique spot between Normandy and Brittany always moves lookers-on.

Futuroscope

A theme park devoted to the future, very image-oriented, less than one hundred kilometres from Tours.

Château de Versailles

Near Paris, the château de Versailles is easily to get to from Tours. Built by Louis XIV, its classical façade, lavish interiors and gardens testify to the splendour of the kingdom in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Chartres

A splendid Gothic cathedral, emblematic of the style. Collection of stained glass.
